 County of Grande Prairie
Contractor and Vendor Prequalification Package

The County of Grande Prairie (hereby referred to as “the County”) recognizes that we work with a variety of contractors with an assortment of skills and competencies. This package must be completed as it applies to your company for any contractor that is providing the County with their services.

The County strives to evaluate all contractors fairly. Decisions made on which companies we work with will be based on the contractor fulfilling the expectations of the materials and/or services required. Completion of this package does not imply any commitment or right to work for the County of Grande Prairie. 

All contractors seeking prequalified status must meet the following criteria:

  • A Workers Compensation Board (WCB) account in good standing
  • A minimum of $2,000,000 per occurrence liability insurance for low risk projects (as defined by Schedule 2, Table 1 of OHS Code) 
  • A minimum of $5,000,000 per occurrence liability insurance for high risk projects (as defined by Schedule 2, Table 1 of OHS Code) 
  • A completed Contractor and Vendor Prequalification Package
  • It is preferred that all contractors possess a Certificate of Recognition (COR) or Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR), however contractors that want to be considered for work that designates them as Prime Contractor must possess a COR/SECOR.

All contractors will be evaluated for these pre-established minimum standards before being added to the County’s Approved Contractor List. Acceptance to the Approved Contractor List does not imply any future commitment or right to work for the County.  

Definitions

Approved Contractor List – internal list of suppliers, providers, and contractors that have met the pre-qualification standards established by the County of Grande Prairie’s Contractor and Vendor Management Program.  

Contractor – a person or organization that performs a service for the County of Grande Prairie, used synonymously with “vendor”.

High Risk Project - refers to “high hazard work” as defined by Schedule 2 of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Code. (i.e. construction, maintenance, etc.)  

Low Risk Project - refers to “low hazard work” as defined by Schedule 2 of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Code. (i.e. administrative, clerical, etc.)

Procurement – managing the acquisition of goods, services and construction

Purchasing – transaction of goods, services and construction     

Sub-contractor – a company or contractor that is hired by the County of Grande Prairie’s principle contractor to carry out work.

Termination – to end a contract or pre-qualification status between the contractor and the County of Grande Prairie.

The County – refers to the County of Grande Prairie.

Vendor – a person or organization that performs a service for the County of Grande Prairie, used synonymously with “contractor”.

Confidentiality

The County maintains its Approved Contractor List for the sole use and benefit of the County. The Information collected through the this package is being collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and is protected by the FOIP Act. Approved Contractor List

Contractors who request to be added to the County's Approved Contractor List and meet the outlined prequalification criteria will be added to our list for a period of three (3) years.

The County reserves the right to request additional details or re-evaluate your prequalifying status at any time during this period. The County reserves the right to remove any prequalified contractor from the Approved Contractor List at any time and will provide you with 30 days written notice prior to termination from the list.

Note: Contractors completing this package as a requirement of a formal solicitation are not expected to particpate in the County's Approved Contractor List.
