Event Permit Application Form
The following types of events may require completion of the application form to receive County Permit approval.
- All ticketed events in the County in any area that is not zoned for commercial use (example include Numb Bum, Music festivals).
- All business activities that occur on County owned land (examples include Food trucks, fitness classes, outdoor workshops)
- All activities that could impact County residents or are outside normal use of County trails, Municipal Reserves, roads and parking lots. (some examples include Fun runs, parades, ATV rentals, Kayak rentals)
*Event permit applications have to be submitted a MINIMUM of 14 days prior to your event.
STEP ONE:
Complete the County Event Permit Application form with all the basic details of your event and submit. Upon receipt, The County’s Recreation and Culture department will review the application and confirm if the activity event needs additional consultation from internal departments. The applicant will receive an email with next steps or additional permits required to obtain an County Event Permit.
STEP TWO:
The Event Permit Application form approval will be sent to the applicant once the venue, site plan and insurance have been confirmed, and any additional permits that are required have been submitted. After such, an approval permit will be issued. This approval package will include all the required County of Grande Prairie permits needed for the event.
Once you’ve submitted your permit request application, our team will review the details and ensure everything is in order. Depending on the type of permit you’re applying for, the timeline may vary.
Up to 14 days is expected for most permits to be approved.
Note: External agency permits and permissions (i.e. Alberta Health Services, Alberta Gaming, Liquor, Cannabis Commission) are the responsibility of the organizer to obtain and will have to provide proof to the County of Grande Prairie prior to permit approval.
STEP THREE:
After your event has finished, the County's Recreation and Culture Department will schedule a follow up call with the event organizer to identify challenges, and opportunities for improvement with the County Event Permit process.
